Thriving Unscripted: Girl Gang Anyone?

Pull up a chair and let me pour you a virtual cup of tea—or coffee if that's your thing. Here's the thing: I know I am not the only one out here navigating this wild ride called Entrepreneurship as a woman with ADHD.  I have been fortunate enough to build a multi-six-figure business, all while my ADHD likes to take the wheel (and occasionally the entire car). And let's sprinkle in the fact that I'm a woman of color which adds its own unique set of challenges and triumphs. Does this sound familiar? If it does, you're in the right place. My journey has been anything but linear—it's more like a doodle that got excited and went off the page. But here I am, still standing, dreaming, and pushing forward. Welcome to a piece of my world where the struggle, resilience, and search for a community that gets it is real.

Starting my business was a leap of faith—a dive into the unknown. Entrepreneurship is challenging for anyone, but when you add ADHD into the mix, it's like running a marathon with your shoelaces tied together. Focus becomes a luxury, and consistency feels like a foreign concept. Yet, there's a beauty in this chaos. My ADHD brain is a powerhouse of creativity and innovation. It's my superpower, but it's also my kryptonite. But to be real, this journey can be lonely at times. In the business world, where everything seems so polished and perfect, admitting your struggle feels like showing weakness. And as a Black woman, we don’t show weakness. We're fighting against stereotypes and biases; sometimes, it feels like we're fighting against the world. Finding a community of women who share this unique blend of experiences is like searching for a needle in a haystack.

It's not just about finding other entrepreneurs. It's about finding those who understand the dance of distraction and hyperfocus, who know what it's like to have a million ideas but struggle to execute one, and who understand the weight of societal expectations on our shoulders. This quest for community is about finding those who see the world through a similar lens and who can relate to the nuances of navigating business and life with ADHD as a woman of color. I've faced moments of doubt, wondering if I could really make this work. But each time, I've come back stronger and more determined. My business is a testament to what we can achieve when we rely on our unique strengths, even when the world doesn't understand our struggles.

I want to share my journey's raw, unfiltered realities in this space. I want to talk about the late nights, the missed deadlines, the moments of brilliance, and the periods of stagnation and let’s not forget the burnout! I want to create a space where we can be real about our struggles without fear of judgment—a place where we celebrate our victories, no matter how small. If you're reading this and seeing parts of your story in mine, know that you're not alone. The path of an entrepreneur, especially one who is a Black woman with ADHD, is challenging, but it's also incredibly rewarding. Together, we can create a community that uplifts, supports, and understands each other in a way that no one else can.

And if you're looking for more conversations around entrepreneurship through the lens of neurodivergence, I invite you to tune into my podcast, Unconventional CEOs. It's a space where we dive deep into the lives of women entrepreneurs who are navigating the business world in their unique ways. We talk about the challenges, the triumphs, and everything in between. It's a place for us to connect, learn from each other, and grow together. So, to my fellow women of color who are entrepreneurs with ADHD, let's unite. Let's build the community we've been searching for, one where our voices are heard, our experiences are validated, and our dreams are encouraged. Together, we're unstoppable.

Who is down to start our own girl gang?
